Life in General:

Status: Roller coaster. I submitted my resignation at work, dealt with a 7000 gallon water leak underneath my house, nearly burnt up in the heat wave, and gave my hard drive a decent burial. Yay. On the upside, I got a delicious present from my husband: a 2 terabyte external hard drive by Hitachi. I'm in drama download heaven. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to download, because...

The Move:

Packing, packing, and more packing. I have too much junk. I have to impose upon a friend with a truck to pick up some more boxes and packing material. Beginning to wonder if it will be done on time. I'm scheduled to leave on the 28th of this month. Still don't know where exactly I'll be booking a hotel, however. All I do know is that there is no way I'm driving 20 hours straight. No siree. I want room service out of this deal.

Art:

I've been busy? Aside from packing up my works for the move, I haven't had anything to do with art. Pity. I need to remedy that--at least do a few sketches. I'm afraid to get away from the habit too long. It makes it easy to procrastinate later.

What I'm Watching Now:

Totally inconsequential, but my dirty little secret is my addiction to dramas. I just finished Down With Love with Jerry Yan (cheers!--it was awesome, of course), and now I'm watching Calling Big Star with Mike He. The female actress is beyond terrible, the script is even more predictable and cheesy than you'd expect with a Taiwanese drama, but I'm hooked anyway. It's Mike He, dammit. He's yummy.

So I'm in the middle of the first big move I've had in over 10 years. It's a pain in the butt, let me tell you.

We're moving 1800 miles from where I live currently--destination: San Antonio, Texas. I'm excited about it and dreading it at the same time. On the one hand, I'll be closer to my mother and sister, plus the art scene is a little more active. Add in the fact that housing and the cost of living is cheaper, plus there are better job opportunities, and it makes good sense to do this move.

On the other hand, it's Texas. It's darned hot down there, and I'll miss my mountains and forests. :(

Regardless, this move is happening in one month, and I'm swamped with preparations. I have to get my animals situated with the lady that is going to care for them until we find a house, and everything must be packed away, given away, or sold before I go. The task is daunting. I had no idea I had so much junk until I started trying to fit it all into boxes.

Aside from that, I still have to secure the truck rental (we decided to go with Penske over Uhaul--they're cheaper, and the trucks seem to be better maintained), and find a hotel on the way that allows large dogs, as my Amstaff will be making the trip with us. (Yes, that is three people and one obese canine in the front cab of a moving truck. No way I'm making that long of a trip without staying overnight somewhere.) I have a few prospects. I like the idea of staying in Lousiana (mmmm...cajun food), but I don't know yet if that's feasible. Might have to stop sooner, like in Alabama (NOT excited about the idea) instead.

One thing I'm really looking forward to is seeing my mom and sister for the first time in over three years. It's going to be one crazy hen party, with lots of fabulous, home-cooked Mexican food, more booze than I can probably handle, and the menfolk trying to hide from the three of us. XD
